This commissioned rock-painted sandgrouse was one of the most complex painted stones I ever…

Flying Bald Eagle
I’ve just finished a flying bald eagle for my friend Kathleen. This magnificent bird of prey has been the symbol of the United States since 1782.
I chose to paint a dramatic sky, filled with clouds shifting from deep purple to red and yellow, a fusion of unusual hues. It was a challenging yet fascinating work.
Now the painted rock is ready to take off and fly to Kathleen in Wisconsin! I’m really happy with how it turned out, but I’d love to hear what you think too!
